Surprise, surprise

Wow, I really have been lagging behind on my bloggin. I have to apologize about that. I'm sorry I suck. How's that? Heh.

Anyway, this gonna be a short one (yet again), but I will try to do better tomorrow or Thursday, whichever day I get the chance again, the next time I'm on. I actually wanted to get here about half an hour earlier than I did, but I was running late, so I missed my chance to really have time for bloggin and such. I'm only here now cause I decided to try to save gas by stopping here before work, since it's pretty much on the way. I think I may do that just about every time I need to get online, so this may actually work out better, and save me some time in the morning. I dunno.

Anyway, I have to leave in a few minutes, so I wish everyone a happy Tuesday, and hopefully I will be back in a day or two!! :o)

Anotha short one

I'm gonna have to make another short post here. Just wanted to say hi and I really hope to be back bloggin next week, altho with all the laundry I have to catch up on, I dunno about that. Apparently, I have too many clothes, and washing them at the laundromat just doesn't fit well into my schedule. Anyway, I'm really likin second shift so far, altho my mornings go waaaaaayyy too fast, but it makes the week go fast, so it's not that bad. I'm getting used to staying up later than I have been for months, and obviously getting up later isn't a problem, so that's all good. I took Josh lunch yesterday, and altho I was freaking out because I wasn't sure if I had time to get back to the apartment to change for work, and felt rushed the entire morning (since I had to do a run to the laundromat earlier), but it was nice. I loved seeing him. I was so happy, and it kept me goin all night last night. I believe this might be a weekly event (at the least).

Ugh. I had to go pick up a light bulb from the store, and it was one of those grocery stores that has those stupid "self-checkout" things. I swear, by dumbing it down, it makes it more difficult to use. I only had one thing, and I scanned it, then I put it on the belt to go down to the bag area. Well, apparently this was a problem, since the freakin computer wasn't acknowledging the fact I had already put it onto the belt, and it kept repeating "Please put your item on the belt if you wish to purchase it." So, after it repeated itself about 4 times, I picked the fucker up and put it back on, and this was the wrong move, since it said there was an error and turned the damn light on. Made me feel like an ass, even if it wasn't exactly my fault. I think I'm going to the regular cashier from now on, even if it is a stick of gum. Geez.

Anyway, I must get goin. I knew I didn't have a lot of time on here this morning, but I needed to get on to check email and shit, so I just crammed it into my morning now.

Have a wonderful weekend, guys!!! :oD

A Quickie

I won't bore you today, for the fear that anything I say will come out wrong for being so incredibly tired, so I will just make this a short one to tell you that I'm on second shift now. I really do think I like it, even tho I hate not seeing my Joshie, and miss him dearly, but that's the only thing I hate so far. Things didn't go so bad last night (my first night working), so I can't base too much on that, but I have high hopes for the remainder of the time.

At least you all can read my posts earlier in the day now (for those of you passing the time at work, at least the new posts you read here will be actually new for ya on that same day, instead of reading day-old material) (hmmmph "material" *shakes head* I'm not so sure I should refer to the blog as "material").

Anyway, have a great day guys!!! :o)

I'm still alive

I made comments to the previous post below, btw.

I gotta make this quick. I've been training this new guy to do my job at work this week, and next week (and from now until I have another job), I'll be workin 2nd shift. Starting Monday, I will no longer be waking at the ungodly hour of 4:30 am to get ready for work. I think I'm gonna like it all, except that I won't see my Joshie much more than the weekends. :o( But everything else will be good, and I think that not being stressed about work will make me happier, and I will appreciate every single second of Joshie time I have even more so than I do know, so it's not all bad.

Anyway, I just wanted to update ya on that. Have a wonderful night guys!! :oD

You know you're from...

What's sad is that most of it applies to me...

(I also decided to add my comments to each thing)

You Know You're From Pennsylvania When...
You've never referred to Philadelphia as anything but "Philly." And New Jersey has always been "Jersey." Yeah, I must say I've done this a lot.

You refer to Pennsylvania as "PA." LOL I do that way too much on here.

"You guys" is a perfectly acceptable reference to a group of men & women. You mean to tell me that that's not normal??

You know how to respond to the question "Djeetyet?" (Didyoueatyet?) Sad, but true.

You learned to pronounce Bryn Mawr, Wilkes-Barre, Schuylkill, Bala Cynwyd,
Duquesne, New Tripoli, Tunkhannock, Punxsutawney, Tamaqua, Susquehanna,
Allegheny, and Monongahela. Just about every one of those I can pronounce. Only one or two I've never even heard of.

You know what a "Mummer" is, and are disappointed if you can't catch at least
highlights of the parade. I know what it is, but I'm not exactly "disappointed" if I miss the highlights, or even the whole, parade.

The first day of buck and the first day of doe season are school holidays. Oh my. I think the place I work at is one of the few that does this, but one of our holidays is the first day of buck season...otherwise, we never did this for school (at least not that I remember, and if we did, I never thought we had off for that reason).

You can use the phrase "fire hall wedding reception" and not even bat an eye. I was just at one about 2 weeks ago.

You can't go to a wedding without hearing the "Chicken Dance," at least one
Polka and either an Italian song (sung in Italian,) or "Hava Nagila." Chicken dance, yes. Oh definately yes. I don't think I've ever been to a reception/dance/special event that involves dancing without the Chicken Dance played. Polka and Italian song/"Hava Nagila," no.

At least 5 people on your block have electric "candles" in all or most of
their windows all year long. That is so weird, because I remember from my childhood people used to do that all the time, but I haven't seen it lately.

You know what a "Hex sign" is. Heh. Yes I do.

You know what a "State Store" is, and your out of state friends find it
incredulous that you can't purchase liquor at the mini-mart. Ummmm??

You own only three condiments "A-1, Heinz 57 and Heinz ketchup". Not quite. I own more than that.

Words like "hoagie", "crick", "chipped ham", "sticky buns", "shoo-fly pie",
"pierogies" and "pocketbook" actually mean something to you. Oh boy. That's right on for me. All of these are very familiar, and I use some of them just about regularly. (Shoo-fly pie kicks ass! It's my fave besides boston creme pie. And sticky buns kick ass as well)

You can eat cold pizza (even for breakfast) and know others who do the same. Yep, you caught me. Altho I don't order out for pizza or anything, but I have done it. Multiple times. And yes, for breakfast as well. Please tell me that's not weird. Cause then I know A LOT of weird people. Wait, I do know a lot of weird people. Damn, I guess maybe it is weird, so that might make me weird. Eh, who am I kidding?

You know several places to purchase or that serve Scrapple, Summer Sausage
(Lebanon Bologna), and Hot Bacon Dressing. Yep.

One of the highlights of your life was a field trip to Penn's Cave and Horseshoe curve. Actually, I've never been to either.

You know exactly what to do when your mother tells you to "red up" your room.
Ummmm no.

You know the time and location of every "wing night" in a 20 mile radius. Nope. I'm not really a wing kinda person.

You don't think people from Philly or Pittsburgh talk funny. I don't notice that they talk "funny." Do they?

You don't understand all the hype about Rolling Rock beer;
You've been drinking it for years even though Iron City is better. Okay, seeing that I'm still only 20 prevents me from even making much of a comment about it.

You consider an exotic vacation to be a trip to Ocean City, Virginia Beach,
or Myrtle Beach. LOL I haven't even been to any of them, not to mention, I've never been to the shore. Ever. I've never really seen the ocean from a beach perspective. It's really sad when I don't live that terribly far from it, and could make a day trip of going there.

Words like "hoagie", "chipped ham", and "pop" actually mean something to you. Hoagie, yes. Chipped ham, gross but yes. Pop, nah, just call it soda here.

You think very little of an Amish buggy on the road. Actually, there aren't too many around where I live, but I don't think I'd be all that amazed by it. I have been to the "amish country" before, but it didn't seem all that weird to me. I'm more used to the tractors from the farms, and the wonderful "fresh, country air" that is at my parents' house. I know, I live in hickville, and I don't know why I admit this.

You learned long ago how to "step carefully" around the buggy tie-ups in the
supermarket parking lot. Uh, see previous comment about the whole "Amish" thing.

You can go 2 weeks in winter without sunshine and think this is normal. Well, yeah, isn't it? (Not exactly saying I like it tho)

You know that Blue Ball, Intercourse, Climax, Bird-in-Hand, Virginville,
Paradise, Mars, and Slippery Rock are all PA towns. Yeah. *Sigh*

There is no such thing as a "Philly Cheesesteak".
It's just called a "Cheesesteak." Don't other places have cheesesteaks? I never thought that was such a PA thing. I always thought that was normal throughout the US. Shows how much I know, I guess.

You know that Eucre is a card game and not a form of vomiting. I've never played it, but yes I did know (only heard of it, don't actually know how to play), and I did not know that was referred to as a form of vomiting. Hmmm.

You not only have heard of Birch Beer, but you know that it comes in
several colors: Red, Blue, White, Brown, Gold. Yeah, and I've drunk most of those.

You know what REAL potpie is. Yes.

You ask the waitress for "dippy eggs" for breakfast. Geez, I've never actually asked for dippy eggs, but that's what everyone refers to them as. I don't even know what they're really called. And yes, I like my dippy eggs. :oP I know Josh, "it's gross."

Your turkey has "filling," not "stuffing," and most certainly, NOT "dressing." Well, we've always called it stuffing at my house, but we do have filling in addition, but it's not the same thing.

You consider Pittsburgh to be "out west,"
and you know the fastest way to Philly is the Turnpike. Yeah, I guess. Altho I've never gone to Philly when I actually needed to know the route (Too young).

When it snows, they put cinders on the roads instead of sand. Yep.

Know that Yuengling is pronounced "Ying-ling," and believe
that it really is a premium beer. Well, I knew how to pronouce it (in fact, I didn't think anyone didn't know that's how you pronounce it), but I don't drink beer.

You know that a green pepper is not a pepper at all but a "mango". WTF?? I've never heard this before.

You have an uncontrollable urge to buy bread and milk
when you hear the word "snow." LOL Josh makes fun of everyone whenever we hear there's bad weather on the news. I've never done it myself tho.

You live within two miles of a plant that makes potato
chips, corn chips, pretzels, candy, or ice cream, or
that packages turkeys, beans, or bologna. I don't live within two miles of a plant that makes any of that, but I do know exactly where 2 plants are that make ice cream, and have gone to both. More than once. And they aren't that far away.

You can stop along the road to buy fruits, vegetables,
or crafts on the "honor system." What does this mean? Does honor system mean that we buying the fruit or whatever believe that it isn't poisoned or something? If that's the case, then yes, there are those stands all over the place. Well, except right in town. But we do have a farmer's market. (Yes, I told you, hicksville)

You know that chicken corn soup from a fire house is
the most nearly perfect food on earth. Well, I've never had it there, but I'd believe it. Just maybe not "the most nearly perfect food on earth."

You say things like, "Outen the lights," "I'm calling
off today," and "They're calling for snow." Not the first one, but the last two are very common.

You've heard of distelfinks and hex signs. Ummm I have heard of hex signs (have seen a few on a barn near my parents' house), but not distelfinks. I'm not sure I wanna know either.

You only buy your beer and soda by the case. Soda, yes most times. I don't drink soda that much anyway.

You think the roads in any other state are smooth. Yeah.

You know the Penn State cheer, and although you've
never attended Penn State, you are a most obnoxious
Penn State fan. Nope, never have, never will. Not a sports person.

Hearing horses clopping down a paved street doesn't
bring you to the window to see what's going on outside. I still would look, but it wouldn't surprise me right now. At the apartment, yes, that would draw attention, and I doubt that it would happen anyway.

You never see any Confederate Flags, except on the
Gettysburg Battlefield. Right.

You prefer Hershey's Chocolate to Godiva. Yes! I love Hershey's!

School closings due to snow take the radio stations
a half an hour to finish, because just about every town
has its own school district. Oh, yes, that was always a pain in the ass on school days. Especially when you're waiting to hear yours, and get impatient, and stop paying full attention, and then have to listen to the whole freakin thing again. Of course, my school district started with a 'B' so it wasn't too bad waiting for it.

You have the Rolling Rock bottle memorized: "From the
glass lined tanks of Old Latrobe, we tender this premium
beer for your enjoyment. . . . " No.

Elect pro-life Democrats and pro-choice Republicans
for Governor I've never voted, so I can say no to this one.

Frequently go "with," e.g., "You going to the market?
Mind if I come with?" Yeah, very guilty of this.

Refer to something as "a whole nother," e.g., "That's a
whole nother issue." Yep. A lot.

You REALLY HATE antiquers. On Sunday mornings you would
scream "Go back to Jersey!" at least once on the way to church. No, not really. But there were 3 different antique stores in the middle of B-town right next to each other. And I always thought it was dumb that they were that close to each other. Now two of those stores closed up. But that was the only opinion I ever had of antiquers.

When you were a kid and somebody really pissed you
off, you said, "I'm gonna deck you!" I've never done that, but have heard it being said.

You know the expression, "Hey naw! Watchya dewin'?" Nope. Haved heard it before.

You know where to buy "Opera Fudge" and that it has
absolutely no connection to the Opera. Ummm, actually no.

The only Jewish people that you've ever met have been
from New York or New Jersey. I don't think I've really ever met someone from either of those states that I got to know the slightest bit enough to know they were Jewish, and I don't think any of my friends are Jewish either. Who the hell cares anyway?

You love the Phillies (unless they stink) in which case
you love the Orioles (unless they stink) in which case
you solemnly swear that you've never even liked the
Phillies or the Orioles, but have always been a Penn
State fan. Nope, not a sports fan, we've been through this one before.

You actually get these jokes and pass them on to other friends from Pennsylvania. Yeah, I suppose I did.

Pms'ing...sorta

I totally know this feeling. It sucks. And in the past 4 months, it's happened more than I really wanna admit.

Good news!

Ever do something that makes you feel really stupid?? Well, I do that....a lot. But I was surprised at myself when I hadn't noticed that Josh had put the antenna back into the front fender of my car on Tuesday night. I just noticed it on the way home from work today. *shakes head* Honestly, how could I have missed that for 2 days?? At least I can listen to the radio until he replaces the whole antenna, and then I'll have a working power antenna. :o) Sometimes the little things are all it takes to make me happy.

Speaking of stuff to make me happy, I just got word today that I can go onto second shift if I still want to. Of course I do; do ya really think I wanna do these f*ing bathrooms anymore?? And if the new guy on second shift that just started last week says yes to taking my job, then I can probably train him next week and be on second in 2 weeks!! :oD So yes, things are going much better than they were in that department. The only bad thing about second shift is that I won't get to see my Joshie except on weekends. Unless I meet him outside of work for my "lunch" break. I dunno that he'd be out of work himself by then, so I won't bug him to visit or anything, unless he wants to.

I think I may have to get cable for the apartment soon. I don't watch much tv, and I don't really think cable is all that necessary, but we don't have an antenna at the apartment for the tv, and there aren't any channels coming in on the tv at all. So, we've only been able to watch dvd's and Josh's playstation games on the tv. Neither of us has a vcr, so we can't even watch our video tapes. He has a playstation 2, so that's how we've been managing the dvd watching. Anyway, what got me started on it is that I was going through my email and got my Trading Spaces newsletter, and I was looking at their site, and I realized how much I miss that show. I wanna start watching it again, but there isn't any way to do that without cable. So I'm a bit stuck here. Oh well. I guess maybe I'll ask someone to tape it for me, and watch it here at my grandmother's house until we get cable or something.

Well, I think I've come to the end here, since I've forgotten anything else to write about. Have a wonderful night, and a great Friday, and if I don't get back on tomorrow night, have a great weekend!!! :o)

I got nothin

Honestly. Nothin. Today was absolutely happening-less.

I do have to tell you that my wonderful Joshie bought me a new power antenna for my car (which I don't have at all right now; no antenna=no radio at all), so I was very happy about that last night. So, yay!!

I think that's what had me in such a good mood this morning. I actually woke up in a good mood for the first time in quite a few months (during the week, anyway), so I was expecting today to be a bit more eventful, to no avail. Bleh.

I wonder if the one store is still open now. I doubt it, but I'm gonna try. I have to get a case of oil and some bottles of transmission fluid for my car. Yes, my car leaks both, and I had enough trans. fluid to fill it in the bottle that was in the trunk of my car. Which was originally Josh's, which I kinda mooched off of him, and I don't think he has any left, so I can't mooch anymore. I was intending to buy oil and tran. fluid the weekend I rear-ended that dude, and when that happened, I said, "to hell with that," and decided to wait until I was driving the car again before I spent my money. Now the time has come, and I don't really wanna spend my money, but I do need to buy this shit. Anyway, I need to go do that. Now.

So have a wonderful night guys!! I dunno when I will definately be on next, but hopefully I will have good news about my job (and the way things are looking, I just very well might!)!! :oD

I know, I suck

I've been sucking at the blogging lately. I know I've been pretty busy, but that never stopped me from doing all my blogging before. So, anyway, for the millionth time, I'm sorry for not blogging very often anymore (not so sure many people read this or care anymore, but I'd like to think someone cares).

Anyway, Saturday was fun. Josh and I went to a wedding, which was interesting seeing all those people from school I haven't seen in years. I don't have a lot to write about it, except that it's very amusing watching everyone get drunk and acting like total asses. Oh, and me and Josh finally had our first dance (slow dance) after dating for 4 1/2 years. Yes, that made me the happiest girl on Saturday, and I know it seems like such a small thing, but all was right with Melissa's world that night. And no, I wasn't joining the crowd and drinking, in case you were wondering.

(Have to take a break to fold laundry)

Yeah, I'm spoiled doing the laundry at the laundromat. It may cost me at least $15 (I have a lot of clothes), but at least I get it all done at once. Now I have to do it according to how much time I have, since I don't have the moolah this week to do my laundry at the laundromat. Yeah, it sounds sad, but I had to pay for the car the parts for my car came off of, and I don't want to spend too much money this week to make up for that in my account. And I really don't have a hell of a lot in my account, otherwise I'm not sure I'd care that much. And my nephew's b-day is tomorrow. I do have to get him something, so I will have to spend some money anyway.

I *might* also be getting onto second shift where I work to clean offices. I'm still waiting for the word, but it shouldn't be too long this week. I did get my letter from the human resources dept of my company last week finally telling me that I definately won't be going back to my other job in the other building. I'm still also not allowed over there, so that really sucks. But I knew it was coming. Oh well. I'm so sick of it all, I'm just glad I got a freakin answer out of 'em. I'm not too fond of second shift, but I found out that it isn't as bad as I originally thought since I worked that week at the beginning of July on second. I'm gonna miss Josh terribly, hardly talking to him throughout the workweek, but I think we'll survive. Hopefully for a while, at least. I just know I can't continue with this job I'm doing at the moment. My wrist hurts already, and I need it for a major part of the job, so I'm so sure that they'd even want me to do permanently. I just know I don't have the patience to look for another job while I do this one. And, if I get onto second shift, I will have better hours to go for job interviews anyway. So, it'll work out.

Hmmmm...I'm trying to think of everything that's happened that might interest you, and quite honestly, I don't think any of it will. So, I'll just spare ya the details. :o) I guess that's my cue to end this. I will be back tomorrow, since I didn't finish my laundry, so have a wonderful night!!!

I'm here, if only for a few minutes

Well, if you were wondering, I've been kinda busy all week so far, so that's why I haven't been around. I almost didn't even bother spending the time to drive over, but I knew my email accounts were probably full, so I decided to come over for a little bit.

I really just don't feel like blogging tonight either. I will be going to the mall after work tomorrow to buy an outfit for a wedding I'm goin to on Saturday, so maybe I'll have somethin to talk about (other than my job, which I do have news on, but I just don't feel like explaining it all at the moment). So I will really try to blog tomorrow night just to let ya know what is happening in the world of Melissa. :o)

Ah, and I'm beginning not to like going to the laundromat by myself anymore. Two weird old guys approached me today, and I was not likin that one bit. If I had patience and time on the weekends, I'd make Josh go, and I'm pretty sure that's when it'd be the fullest. Eh.

Anyway, I'm gonna get goin now. Have a beautiful night, guys and gals, and I will be back tomorrow!! :oD
